Video Fact: People Raised Hands With Victory Sign When Vitold Ashurak's Body Was Carried Into Cathedral

Today, people are bidding farewell in Biarozauka to political prisoner Vitold Ashurak, who was killed in Shklou colony. When the body of the Belarusian hero was brought into the cathedral, the people raised their hands with the Victoria sign.
On May 21 it became known that Vitold Ashurak, a political prisoner from Biarozauka, died in Shklou colony. He was 50 years old. The heart failure was given as the preliminary cause of death.
The wife of the deceased reported that he had never had any problems with his heart before.
The last letter from him to her came on April 30, though previously letters came every 10 days.
She has no more information about the cause and circumstances of his death. The telephone numbers at the Investigative Committee she has been given are not answering to her calls.
Belarusians are holding rallies of memory and solidarity with the deceased hero. They also demand to hold the Belarusian authorities responsible for the death of the activist.
The activist was detained on September 19, 2020. Judge of Lida District Court Maksim Filatau declared the sessions closed. The sentence was 5 years in a general regime penal colony, which Vitold served in the Shklou penal colony №17.
"I didn't kill anyone, I didn't deceive anyone, I didn't steal anything. I did what my conscience demanded," - activist Siarhei Pantus recalled Vitold's words.
It was from Vitold Ashurak's letter that the media became aware that they put yellow tags in the Shklou colony on the clothes of prisoners convicted under the protest articles.
