This will be a countdown for his regime.
Despite Putin is doing all he can to press the illegitimate ruler of Belarus, Aliaksandr Lukashenka, a Russian-Belarusian grouping has not yet been set up on the border with Ukraine. Lukashenka understands all the consequences he will face if he enters Ukraine. Mikhail Samus, a military expert, said this on the air of a TV marathon.
Samus noted that Ukrainian intelligence will notice if Belarus is getting ready to attack.
"They (the Russian-Belarusian grouping - ed.) will need some time to move troops and, obviously, the intelligence will notice this and plan a response," Mikhail Samus said.
He also added that Lukashenka has already "promised Putin to join this war about ten times.
"Putin would really like to achieve that and it would be very useful as Ukraine is advancing in Kherson direction. But I think Lukashenka himself understands that if Belarus joins the war, it will be a countdown for his regime. Because the Belarusians are not Russians, and they have protest sentiments," Samus added.
It should be noted that the Lukashenka regime has de facto been engaged in the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine since February 24. In particular, missiles and bombs are launched from that country's territory towards Ukrainian settlements, Russian occupants have entered Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, and Belarusian airfields are used by Russian aircraft.
Lukashenka himself has recently admitted that the role of Belarus in the war "has long been defined." He said that the union of Belarus and Russia had created a unified army long ago.
The movement of military equipment near the borders with Poland and Ukraine has been noticed in Belarus. Tractor-trailers with missiles for S-300 surface-to-air missile systems were spotted there.
