He previously headed the country's Ministry of Justice and Security.
Dick Schoof, who has so far held the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Netherlands, and previously headed the General Intelligence and Security Service in the Kingdom, has become the new Prime Minister of the country, reports the Dutch NOS. TV channel.
At a press conference on May 28, Dick Schoof said he was going to become "a prime minister for all Dutch people." He added that he intends to "take seriously" people's problems and look for ways to solve them.
Prior to his appointment as head of the Dutch government, Schoof was secretary-general, i.e. the highest ranking official, in the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security. Previously, he was head of the General Intelligence and Security Service, national coordinator for counter-terrorism and security and director of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service.
We remind you, in the parliamentary elections in the Netherlands in November 2023, the extreme right-wing Freedom Party led by Geert Wilders won. In order to obtain a majority in Parliament and form a new government, he concluded a coalition agreement with the leaders of three other political forces - the Civil-Farmer Movement, the "New Social Contract" and the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy.
These political forces have now tasked Schoof with forming a cabinet.
