Businessman Ryhor Volkau Sentenced To Three Years Of Colony In Minsk

55-year-old businessman Ryhor Volkau has been sentenced in Minsk for donations, writes ‘Nasha Niva’.

Ryhor Volkau is 55 years old. He is a Minsk resident, studied at school 50. After that he graduated from Minsk Radio Technical Institute (now - Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics).

Volkau started doing business in the 1990s. It is known that his sphere is cargo transportations, including liquid cargoes. The man's business is quite large, his company's fleet of up to a hundred lorries.

The date of Volkau's detention is unknown. His trial began at the end of April and ended at the end of May 2024. He was charged under Article 361-2 of the Criminal Code (Financing an extremist formation).

It became known that Volkau was sentenced to three years in colony for one donation and a photo from the protests. Other circumstances of the case are unknown. The sentence came into force on July 23.
