Two-Year-Old Child Died During Dinner In Asipovichy Kindergarten

A two-year-old child died in a kindergarten in Asipovichy, in the Mahiliou region, but the authorities did not report it. The Investigative Committee is currently investigating the incident. Zerkalo managed to find out the details of the tragedy.
The incident occurred in Asipovichy kindergarten #12. According to a source familiar with the situation, it all happened at the end of December last year. The child was in a common room, and during dinner he suffered asphyxia — a condition in which the airways narrow due to the ingress of a foreign object, and the body does not receive oxygen.
“He was eating a pancake and could not chew it,” the source said. According to him, the family is not allowed to speak about the tragedy publicly.
The journalist called the education department of the Asipovichy district executive committee as a concerned resident of the city. The department confirmed the information about the child's death and reported that the Investigative Committee is conducting an investigation.
“The information that should be communicated to the public will be communicated in the prescribed manner. For me, this is a tragic incident,” the official replied. “The education department was on the scene that same day, all services were informed immediately. This is the Asipovichy District Prosecutor's Office, the District Investigative Committee, the district executive committee and the higher organization — the education department [of the Mahiliou Regional Executive Committee].
According to the employee of the education department, the teachers who were on shift that day and the head of the kindergarten continue to be at their workplaces. They were not suspended during the investigation due to the emergency.
“On what basis should they not work today? You know nothing about what happened,” she said. “This institution has been working for decades with the same staff as today, including the same teachers. Hundreds of children have passed through their hands. There are 110 children there today. Everyone is alive and well. I have been working in the education system for decades, and this is the first such case, a tragic case. Now it is being determined who is guilty and whether they are guilty. If it is established that the employees are guilty, then, of course, they will be punished. At the moment, we believe that they are not guilty.”
Also, as the official noted, the employees of the education department were also present at the funeral of the deceased child.
