Man Who Paid With ‘Doubles’ Detained In Homel

In Homel, employees of the department for combating economic crimes of the Chyhunachny District Department of Internal Affairs detained a 50-year-old local resident who tried to pay for purchases with souvenir banknotes, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.

The man found 18 banknotes with a face value of 100 roubles each on the street, which had the inscription “100 дублёў” (instead of “100 рублёў”, which actually means “100 doubles” instead of “100 roubles” — edit.) First, he tried to buy fruit at the market, but the sellers noticed the counterfeit and refused to accept the banknotes. After that, the man went to the store, where he bought food and household items, paying with five banknotes.

The seller did not notice the trick and accepted the souvenir money.

Investigators opened a criminal case under the article on fraud.
