'Trap For Putin'

Trump has a position.
Political expert Taras Zahorodnyi told Radio NV about the trap that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin could fall into if negotiations begin:
— Our task and the task of [President Volodymyr] Zelensky is to make Putin guilty of not wanting to meet the demands of [US President-elect Donald] Trump. And then say: "If Putin does not want to [negotiate], then give us more weapons, we will solve this issue as it should be."
Zelensky gave an interview to [podcaster Lex] Fridman. His interesting remarks were about how they want to make Putin guilty, this is a quite working scheme. As Zelensky said: "I want to meet with Trump, then Trump theoretically meets with Putin, and somewhere we go to work together, relatively speaking, in the presence of Trump we meet with Putin.
The trap for Putin is that he is not going to meet with Zelensky. Why? Because Putin is not going to negotiate with Ukraine at all. He wants to negotiate with the United States on Ukraine.
Trump has his position: he wants to be a peacemaker. If I am a peacemaker, then everyone comes to me (it can be in different formats — some conferences, or some summits, etc.), you sit here at the negotiating table, and we will decide something. But here's the trap for Putin, because he's not going to do it, and it's very good for us.
And, secondly, he does not consider our government legitimate. They themselves are already confused with whom they want to negotiate in this format.
And thirdly, Putin has said so much about Zelensky that he will not be able to explain to anyone if, relatively speaking, the war ends, [why] he negotiated with the one whom he called many times... [He said] that Zelensky “heads a neo-Nazi state” and so on.
Therefore, there should be a diplomatic game here, but we must understand that nothing reinforces the weight of the words of Ukrainian diplomats like strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation. Therefore, we must concentrate on how many weapons we have and how many strikes are inflicted at a time, for example, when negotiations are underway.
Because Americans are absolutely realistic people. They will always ask the Russians: "What are your real guarantees? You were forced out of Syria.” This is a very painful blow for the Russians because they have always played the Middle East issues in negotiations with the Americans over the past 70 years. Now there is no such lever.
Then they will say: "Look, every day drones target you." That's just today [January 11] they have already fucked up Novorossiysk, and this is oil. Further, your generals are killed in Moscow — [Igor] Kirillov, who was allowed by the SSU to ride a scooter.
This also works for the Americans, because they will ask: “Putin, what can you guarantee? You are not in control of the situation in your country.” Ukrainian troops are also on the territory of Russia.
It all works together. They didn't just come, they talked about something, but what cards you came to talk about, and what is behind you. Is there a real power behind you that allows you to realize your wishes.
