‘There is only one strategy.’

The elected US president Donald Trump has made a new statement about his plans to end the war in Ukraine and a possible meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Reuters reports.

Asked about his strategy to end the war, Trump told Newsmax, ‘Well, there's only one strategy, and that's up to Putin. I can't imagine that he's delighted with the way it turned out, because it didn't go well for him either.’

Speaking about a future meeting with Putin, Trump did not give an expected timeline, but said he plans to do so as soon as possible after he takes office.

‘I know he wants to meet, and I'm going to meet very quickly. I would have done it sooner, but ... you need to get into the office. You have to be there for a number of things,’ he said.
