The Carpet plan has been applied en masse.
In the morning of 14 January, temporary restrictions on receiving aircraft were introduced at the airports of Kazan, Kaluga, Saratov and Tambov, said Rosaviatsia spokesman Artem Korenyako. ‘Aircraft crews, air traffic controllers and airport services are taking all necessary measures to ensure flight safety - this is the top priority,’ Korenyako wrote on his Telegram channel.’
At around 7:10, Rosaviatsia said the restrictions were cancelled in Kaluga and Tambov, but were imposed at airports in Penza and Ulyanovsk. Russian air havens periodically restrict flights due to Ukrainian drone raids. The last time airports suspended operations en masse was on 11 January. Then it affected Kirov, Ufa, Saratov, Ulyanovsk, Samara, Nizhnekamsk, Perm, Izhevsk and Kazan. On the same day, the Russian Defence Ministry reported that 85 Ukrainian drones had been destroyed by on-duty air defence assets.
Amid the drone threat and the unstable operation of airports, eight foreign airlines have decided to partially suspend flights to Russia. These include Kazakhstan's Qazaq Air, Israel's El Al, Arab Flydubai, Serbia's Air Serbia, Uzbekistan's Qanot Sharq, Turkmenistan Airlines, Azerbaijan's AZAL and China Southern.
