Ukraine Returned 25 Ukrainians From Russian Captivity

Twenty-five captured occupiers were also sent to Russia.

On January 15, Ukraine exchanged prisoners with Russia. It was possible to return 25 Ukrainians home, the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on Telegram.

He noted that among the prisoners were civilians and soldiers. The defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.

"The guys have serious injuries and illnesses. Each of them will receive all the necessary medical care," Zelensky emphasized.

The United Arab Emirates helped with the exchange, the president added.

The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets reported that among those returned there is also a civilian. The occupiers captured him in the Kyiv region and illegally held him.

"The next priority is to provide the returnees with the necessary range of medical care, perform operations and rehabilitation," he noted.
