Captured DPRK Fighter Says What He Knows About World Outside His Country

The North Korean soldier, who was captured by the Special Operations Forces in Kursk region, served in a reconnaissance battalion and claims that he did not know against whom he would fight.

The video of questioning of the DPRK soldier was published by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on social networks.

In the recording made public on 20 January, the North Korean soldier answers questions from representatives of the Ukrainian security services through an interpreter.

According to the prisoner, he, along with about a hundred compatriots arrived in Russia on a ship, further they were transported by train.

The DPRK fighter says that some of his compatriots were trained to work with heavy Russian military hardware, but he did not undergo such training.

The man says he joined the DPRK army at the age of 17 and did compulsory service.

He claims that he did not know he would be fighting in Russia and did not know who to fight against.

When asked about the losses of the DPRK army, the prisoner says that ‘there were a lot of casualties in the battles.’

His mother does not know where her son is now. When asked ‘What did you know about the world outside North Korea?’ the captive answered ‘Not much’.

- Did you know anything about South Korea?

- I only know that South Korea has fewer mountains than North Korea.
