'The Most Powerful Attack Since The War Began'

Russian media is shocked by the scale of AFU strikes on facilities in Smolensk.
On the night of January 21, Smolensk was under a powerful drone attack, which became the largest for the region since the beginning of the war. Agency reported. Ukrainian drones attacked an oil refinery and an aviation plant in Smolensk. Russian air defences shot down several drones, landing them in high-rise buildings, which caused fires on the roofs and facades of buildings, including residential buildings.
The first warning of a possible attack came after midnight. An hour later, explosions were heard. The main purpose of the drones was the oil refinery in Yartsevo, as well as the production buildings of the Smolensk Aircraft Plant.
On Avtozavodskaya Street, the roof of a residential building caught fire, on Borodinskaya Street — the facade of the building. An explosion was also recorded near the city's TV tower. Local residents complained about the lack of sirens and warnings during the attack, which caused a wave of indignation on social media.
The governor of the Smolensk region, Vasily Anokhin, confirmed that the fires arose as a result of the attack, but assured that no one was injured.
Russia can't counter drones
The increasing intensity of the attacks calls into question Russia's ability to defend its territory.
Ukraine continues to intensify its strikes, using the weaknesses of the Russian air defence system. The war initiated by the Kremlin is increasingly 'rolling' deep into Russia itself, destroying its infrastructure and peaceful life.
Growing threats to major cities
The attack on Smolensk was part of Ukraine's overall strategy to strike Russian targets. Last week, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched more than 200 drones, which was a record during the war. These attacks covered 12 Russian regions, including the Krasnodar Territory, the Crimea and the Bryansk Region.
The intensity of the drone attacks demonstrates that Russia is losing control of its security. Major cities are under increasing threat. Russians who supported Putin's military adventures are now forced to pay for them with their peace, comfort and lives.
