BBC correspondents who came to Belarus ahead of January 26 asked Minsk residents what they thought about the “elections”:

“There is nothing to think about. I will not say how many percent… Everyone already guesses,” two pensioners smile.

“Before 2022, there were probably more people with average earnings. Now they have left. I have a tradition — on my birthday and for the “elections,” I leave the country,” the Belarusian said.
