Diabetes Mellitus Incidence Increases In Minsk

The incidence of diabetes mellitus in Minsk has more than doubled in ten years.

Every year the number of patients with diabetes mellitus increases by an average of 7.6%. Chief physician of the Minsk City Clinical Endocrinology Centre, chief freelance endocrinologist of the Health Committee Alena Yurenia announced such figures to the Minsk News agency.

According to her, this trend is primarily associated with the problem of obesity. Both women and men suffer from it.

‘At the same time, diagnosis and early detection of the disease have improved. Glucose and glycated haemoglobin tests are available in every polyclinic in the capital,’ the specialist adds.
