Russian aluminum will also be hit.
The European Union is preparing to cut off about 15 more Russian banks from the international payment system SWIFT as part of the 16th sanctions package, informed sources told Bloomberg. The EU countries received the corresponding proposal this week.
However, the agency's interlocutors did not specify which banks they were talking about.
In addition, the EU is proposing to introduce a phased ban on imports of Russian aluminum, as well as restrictive measures against more than 70 vessels of the “shadow fleet” of Russia, which transport oil at a price higher than the ceiling of $60 per barrel set by Western countries. At the same time, as Bloomberg sources noted, the final sanctions package may be adjusted, since it requires the approval of all EU members. It is expected to be adopted by the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
