This was reported by RMF24.

A 19-year-old Polish volunteer, Filip Antosiak, who fought in a strike drone unit in the 25th Airborne Brigade, died on the front near Pokrovsk.

The soldier’s parents live in the UK. According to them, after completing his studies in Cambridge, Filip said that he was planning a career in the British army, but then admitted that he went to Ukraine.

“He was very proud that he was helping people here in this country. He always talked about it when he called us. In the first letter he wrote to us after he went to Ukraine, he apologized for telling us a lie for the first time in his life and that was his plan... It is very difficult for us, but we are proud of our son,” says the youngster's father, Marcin.

On January 30, a ceremony of farewell with honors was held for Filip Antosiak at the St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kyiv, from where the procession descended to the Independence Square. The anthems of Ukraine and Poland were played alternately at the ceremony, and the coffin was covered with the flags of both countries. The young man's parents came to the farewell, as well as representatives of the Polish consulate and various Polish organizations in Ukraine. The parents were given a posthumous award for Filip from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Filip will be buried in the city of Łowicz in the Łódź Voivodeship.
